MK & Associates, LLC (MK) is a national forensic engineering firm. Started by Kalanit Chappell and Mark Ezra in 2006, MK has shaped itself into what it is today–a leading resource for thorough, objective engineering analysis. We are relied upon by law firms for defense and plaintiff work, as well as by insurance companies, in-house insurance counsel, and manufacturers throughout the United States, and in Canada and France for a wide variety of litigation and risk-reduction analysis.
WHAT WE DO
MK is a forensic engineering team with a difference. We provide the finest expert analysis available. But what really sets us apart is our ability to make that analysis clear and understandable to non-engineers. We break down complex calculations and concepts into easily understood explanations. This skill comes naturally to our team of engineers as many of them are also college professors.
In conjunction with that, we offer a unique multi-disciplinary “teamwork” approach. Our highly trained, extremely qualified engineers are experts in their respective fields. On investigative matters, they are able to consult with each other to combine their individual expertise, bringing a comprehensive analysis to each project.

Advantages to using us
Demonstrative evidence can be key in litigation matters. We have engineers who specialize in building models, creating hand and computer generated illustrations and animation, and providing expert photography. Just as we translate complex issues into clear and concise spoken testimony, MK takes the same approach in developing visual demonstrative evidence to enhance your position.
Our workshop is equipped to perform failure analysis, investigation of vehicular failures, and also provides an area for our engineers to perform full scale testing and inspections. We also have the capability to perform practical research into alternate designs in product design or manufacturing cases. Our facility is equipped to provide temperature-controlled evidence storage and computer tracking of stored evidence in order to assure “chain of custody” integrity as well as preservation of evidence in the condition it is received.
It is one thing to have an expert on your side. It is another to make that analysis clear and understandable to a non-engineer. That is the true strength of MK & Associates.
